# Create a named conversation

If you want a conversation for a specific topic or an ongoing discussion, where
participants can be added or removed easily, create a **named conversation**.

1. From the home screen, tap the **plus (+) button**. On desktop, press **⌘N** instead.
2. **Select a workspace.** In the top left corner, tap the workspace icon and choose
   where the conversation should live.
3. **Add participants.** Add people by email address, phone number, or username — or
leave it blank and add them later.
4. Tap **Named Conversation** to set the conversation type.
5. **Name the conversation**, then tap **Continue**.
6. **Set initial access controls.**
7. **Add a description and icon** if you want, then tap **Continue**.
8. Tap **Create New Conversation**. 🥳
