What your assistant can do

Once Carbon Voice is connected over MCP, your assistant works with your account through a set of tools. This page is what those tools add up to, in plain language, so you know what is worth asking for.

Two things to know before the list:

  • It acts as you. The connection is signed in to your account, so an assistant sees what you can see, and anything it creates is created by you.
  • It reads and writes. As well as finding and summarizing, it can create voice memos, send messages, share links, and manage action items.

Find and read

  • Find messages by conversation, by who sent them, by label, by whether you were mentioned, by whether you were notified, and by whether you've listened to them yet.
  • Read a message and its transcript, list recent messages, and work through a whole conversation.
  • Look up people, and the conversations and workspaces you share with them.
  • Check your notification inbox: mentions, invites, and workspace activity.

Summarize and analyze

  • Summarize a whole conversation rather than a single message.
  • Run one of your AI Actions over a message or a set of them, and read back results generated earlier.

Action items

  • Pull action items out of one message, or out of several at once, which catches a commitment that spans more than one.
  • List what's assigned to you and what you created, either in one conversation or across everything.
  • Create items, edit the wording, reassign them, and set due dates.
  • Move an item between suggested, to-do, and done, or delete it.

These are the same action items you see in Notebook → Action Items, so anything your assistant changes shows up in the app.

Send and create

  • Create a voice memo from text, spoken in your text-to-speech or cloned voice, or from an audio file.
  • Post a message into an existing conversation, or send a direct message.
  • Attach links to a message.

Share and forward

  • Create a shareable link to a message: public, restricted to specific people or a workspace, or forwarded onto another message.
  • Look up a link you created earlier.

Organize

  • Create, rename, move, and delete folders.
  • Move a message or voice memo into a folder.

What it can't do

The tools don't cover the whole app. An assistant can't delete your messages, start a new conversation, change your account settings, or manage workspace membership. Those stay in Carbon Voice.
